I just purchased my Mac Book Pro on 3/30/25 so I own it one day now. I tried using my SD card slot for the first time. When inserting the card into the reader it seemed not to have locked into position. Is this the way these card readers work on these laptops or did I get a defective one?

SD cards are not retained with any appreciable amount of force, if that's your concern.
My concern was this reader did not function like all the others I have used in the present and in the past. All others card readers click into place locking the card in. To release the card you have to click it again to have it release the card. This expensive piece of high tech equipment did not. I just wanted to make sure it was functioning correctly. So i guess you have answered my question. Thank you
Correct. That's how it works on Macs.
