How to stop Mac speakers from playing other sounds during a call?

I am trying to stop the sound played on the laptop from being captured by my microphone but I cannot figure a way out.

It is a Macbook Pro 2024, running on macOS Sequoia.

The audio I have played on the laptop could be heard, like when I watch a YouTube video on a Discord call or Google Meet call the other side can clearly hear it

It is even more annoying when we watch together, like the YouTube app inside Discord. I do not want to use push to talk at all.

Is there a way to stop this?

Should I have it repaired?

Try a Profile:

Setting up a profile to disallow the speakers would block the speakers from being used. Bit, this is coming from the app. So, create a profile, and see if you can add it while on a call. Then, remove the profile when you don’t need it — Somethignsimlar to what I’ve posted here: How to Use a Profile to Disable the iSight Camera - User Tip

"So, does it mean I also cannot hear from the speaker while using my microphone?: How am I supposed to call with that setting?"

Yes. Both audio input and audio output would be blocked. And to do that would require disallowing all of airplay with the execution of certain devices.

As an Alternative:

Make sure your Mac and iPhone are running macOSVentura and iOS 16, or later. Then sign them both into the same Apple ID account. Your iPhone should now appear as an option in the microphone dropdown menu for whatever app you're using.
