Error Code : Failed to open a connection to the device (-21345)

All of a sudden I am getting the error code Failed to open a connection to the device (-21345) when I try to scan or print from my MacBook Air to my Epson XP-322 printer. I am running on macOS Monterey version 12.7.6

Try powering off the printer and restarting it (wait until it connects back to the network).


I find that to be a particularly frustrating error. In the worst case, I've had to delete a printer from System Preference and then add it back again, only for the problem to repeat days, weeks or months later with no change to teh underlying systems or network.
