reconnecting to HP printer

My MacBook Air does not recognize my HP Envy Photo 7864

It’s happened before - for no seeming reason. I then restart the printer by unplugging the printer - the printer on/off button doesn’t respond. When I use open the MacBooks printer control it doesn’t see the printer though it has had it listed before and I’ve printed a ton of times before. I finally remembered I had an HP app on my I phone. I opened it and found my way to a trouble shooting area for printing problems. The iPhone app did recognize the printer and was able to connect the printer to the Powerbook Air. Hallelujah.

Thanks for the update. Your iPhone used AirPrint, or HP's equivalent, to print. On the other hand, your Mac can either be configured for AirPrint, using the HP printer driver, or direct connection (like USB if the printer supports it.)


So, this issue could have reoccurred with your MBA, and could be dependent on which of those methods it connects to this printer. Just something to consider.
