I have almost 2000 entries in my iPhone journal app.
When utilizing the search feature, it doesn’t always find what I’m looking for. Some days it will find what I’m looking for and other days, if I look for the exact same thing, it won’t find it again.
It makes no sense. Why does the search function not work properly and consistently?
If you want Apple support to be aware of the problem, you need to report it to them. If you do not wish to speak with Apple about it, you can just provide feedback letting them know that you are experiencing the problem. You can use the feedback link here, Feedback - iPhone - Apple and let them know. They read all feedback there, but generally do not provide a return contact.

It's a very rudimentary app. I would recommend exporting all your entries to a better app, but the exporting functions are worse than the search functions.
As to "why" it works the way it does, I'm not sure anyone here in this user-to-user forum could answer that.
I ended up on a long phone call with Apple tech support. They had me turn off iCloud for the Journal app, which then deleted all the information from my phone.
Then I turned it back on, and it brought everything back from the cloud and now the Search functionality seems to be working. Very happy!
Ooofa. That’s not what I wanted to hear. The app works perfectly fine for me, other than the search feature. I would hate to start over on a new app. I’m hoping Apple will fix the search feature bug.
