I am unable to hear callers clearly when I answer my iPhone via my Apple Watch

I am unable to clearly hear callers when I answer my phone via my Apple Watch; nor are they able to hear me well. What am I doing wrong? I do have the ringer turned off on my watch.

Which Apple Watch are you using?


Did you already to clean the openings for microphone and the speaker?

Some users also enabled/disabled the Water Lock a couple of times after cleaning the watch with warm water.

 If your Apple Watch has substances or debris visible in places such as the speaker ports, you can hold your Apple Watch under lightly running, warm, fresh water until it's clean. Soaps and other cleaning products shouldn’t be used. With Apple Watch Series 10, you can use a soft bristle brush to remove debris from the speaker ports.

Can you hear other sounds through your speaker?

Does your microphone work if you use the Voice Memo App on your watch?


Did you try to force restart your watch by pressing and holding the Digital Crown and the Side button together for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again?
