Syncing IMAP/SMTP emails on iphone/ipad

RECEVING emails on my IMAP/SMTP account provided by my service provider on my desktop, iphone and ipad are all synced. However, DELETING emails are not synced, even deleting on the iphone is not synced with the ipad or vice versa. I have to delete the emails on each device individually.

Can anyone advise on this problem?

Hello wingz2u,

One or both your devices might be using the POP protocol instead of IMAP.

On each device, go to Settings > Apps > Mail > Mail Accounts, tap your provider and then tap Account Settings. What do you see as the title of the 1st box? “IMAP ACCOUNT INFORMATION”?

The best way to force an email account to use the IMAP protocol is to create the account by entering an incorrect password. This results of your being prompted to select either the IMAP or POP protocol instead. Choose IMAP so that your devices are synched with the server. Don’t forget to update the password before completing the account creation.
