I think I found the issue, at least for me because I was having the same problem this morning. Somehow, my iPhone reconnected to a Bluetooth speaker…the one I manually disconnected from in the Bluetooth settings last night before I went to sleep. When I woke, up it somehow reconnected to the Bluetooth speaker in another room.

Once I manually disconnected from that Bluetooth speaker, the functionality of dictation was immediately back on my phone. Author, please look through your Bluetooth devices and see what is connected. Your phone may have automatically reconnected to a Bluetooth speaker, preventing you from using your microphone properly for dictation. Worth a look.

"Hi, Littles, I went to Settings > General> keyboard > and Enabled Dictation. Then I went to my text. The I clicked on microphone that turned black, and I clicked on the text box ( no click sound) but when I began speaking nothing happened. I have always use the microphone in the past for emails and texts but now, for some reason, it doesn’t work . I recently bought this phone new from Optimum in Eureka. It is a lemon. Please help me. Thank you, Carol"
