Generally speaking, Apple will continue to stock parts for five years after the device was discontinued.

Of course, if the iPod keeps doing what you need and keeps working, you can use it for as long as you want.

To add to what bobjbkin has mentioned, how useful an iPod Touch will be to you it depends what you want to use the iPod for.

It's unlikely that you will find many modern apps for it. You can however, add music from your music library to it, either via iTunes (the programme) or Finder:

  • Windows PCs use iTunes
  • Mac OS Mojave (10:14) or earlier use iTunes
  • Mac OS Catalina (10:15) or later use Finder

Thanks for the reply,

Good point, and I failed to mention such. The 7th gen Ipod Touch will only be used to store, and play my Itunes songs purchased from them over the years. As everyone knows, Apple has made my 5th gen. Ipod Classic obsolete. I'm not needing any updated features, just would like an idea on how long Apple will provide tech support on this device.
