"There's a problem communicating with the iTunes store" error on Apple TV

Suddenly, my 3rd Gen ATV shows "there's a problem communicating with the itunes store" when I try to watch a purchased tv show or movie. My purchased content is all there but I can't watch it. I'm signed in and did a network test with no issues.

I've tried:

1) restarting the ATV

2) restarting my router

3) restarting my Ethernet switch

4) restarting my modem

5) factory reset my ATV

6) sign out & in iTunes store.

Nothing has worked. Please help. The ATV functioned perfectly a few days ago. Then, I bought The Office & DC comic movies and no it no longer works. Could it be the DC movies? (Haha)

Jpop273, I am having a similar problem see Apple TV (Gen 3) "problem communicating w… - Apple Community.

From looking at what you listed as what you have tried, the are two things mentioned in a much older post, see Apple TV can't connect to iTunes Store - Apple Community. Those are:

1. Setting of your AppleTV Timezone in an elaborate procedure using your iPhone as a different network, and

2. Openning up one of the Ports on your network that specifically deals with Date and Time requests.

In that post there are a number of success stories, even much success stories that are much later in time than the original post.

I have done the first of those, but with no change to being able to view my purchases. :-(

I made an attempt on the second, but I don't know whether what I did was right. :-/

I don't know if these will help. If you give them ago please let me know.
