Pop-up message about infected browser

I keep getting a pop-up message that my browser is infected with 13 viruses but when I click on the message:follow it up, I get the distinct impression they want me to take a Norton Anti-virus subscription!

You're welcome. I just edited Stop unwanted Notifications - Apple Community to emphasize the need to remove Notifications from Safari's settings and not System settings. That important distinction appears to have been frequently misunderstood, especially considering the fact they can appear even when you're not using Safari.

And for browsers other than Safari, that document addresses them as well.
