iPhone accessed safari google searches

I have faced below exact same issue

Safari/google search history? Is this pos… - Apple Community

Someone was able to access my safari browser and I could see something searched in recent searches which was not made by me. Typed in local language in India.

This is with iPhone 15 plus.

Cant believe such old known issue still Apple has no proper fix.

I have a suspicion that someone accessed my iPhone using either Wifi or Bluetooth or using Find my iPhone.

Even though iPhone is secure, apple id, Wifi, hotspot, Bluetooth, Find my iPhone all these can be exploited by anyone.

Even custom installed apps are a way for anyone to enter into your phone, even WhatsApp,

even I doubt AI features in these apps could be exploited

and someone can access your microphone and camera.

Something unusual is, I got iOS update notification right after this incident.

As if someone knows this is a vulnerability.

It's not as simple as that. Please familiarize yourself with Keep your Apple Account secure on iPhone - Apple Support.

Also, it may be worth reviewing Security and your Apple Account.

Apply those fundamental principles to Google and Meta (Whatsapp) and any other service with which you have an account.

As far as an iPhone itself is concerned, they remain one of the most secure and un-hackable devices on the planet, despite intimidation efforts lawsuits and overt threats from various government agencies and entities around the world attempting to compel Apple into making it otherwise.

The discussion you cite, Safari/google search history? Is this pos… - Apple Community, is not even worth reading for this very simple reason:

"Second, my phone is jailbroken. I forgot to mention that."

That little tidbit of information is all anyone needs to know. Are you quite certain that you are facing that exact same issue? The reason for asking is if that statement is true, then this discussion will come to an abrupt end.

You don't! Privacy & Security shows what you have already granted a permission for and you can revoke that at any time. Apps do not have access to the option here without you first granting permission.

Also if I dont want anyone else to use my apple account, there is no settings to remove all other users.

There absolutely is! You go to Settings > [name on top], and scroll down to remove any device that has access to your account. If you find one that has previously had access, which would require your password, then after removal, change your password. Post what you find out there.

Whatsapp session may be hacked I guess and anyone can use that to reconnect, something is a mess.

Absolutely your WhatsApp account can be compromised! That has nothing to do with your phone and they cannot remotely control your phone. They can read any WhatsApp message you type and also create their own messages that appear to come from you. That is a WhatsApp problem and nothing to do with your phone. Contact Meta to secure your account.

  • No one else can access your Safari Browser, although if you share your Apple ID or they know your credentials, then any search will appear in your browsing history. That is how it is supposed to work and you can also prevent iCloud sharing of Safari and Safari Search Suggestions based on your previous history.
  • Wallpaper on your phone can change automatically when using Focus Custom Screens. That is by design.
  • As stated already, Managed WiFi networks are from your Cell Provider and does not mean your device is being managed. You do not choose to log into them. When you remove your SIM card, they will disappear. If you have a problem with them, contact your cell provider or find one that does not use any Managed Networks if you can. Those same ones are on every device that uses the same cell provider as you do.
  • If WhatsApp requires permission to items such as Contacts, Microphone, etc to use their service, then the answer is simple. Don't use their service. You are not required by Apple to use another companies app. Meta can do whatever they want with the information you give them, so don't do it. That is your choice and entirely your decision to use any app. Personally, I would recommend to never use any Meta app. For example, if you give Meta access to your Contacts once, then they have that information, turning off Contacts only prevents further access to your phone, but they already have the information you have given them by allowing access.
  • Run Safety Check to verify what information you are sharing to others.

Your Apple account can only be accessed with your user name and your password. If you've given your account name and password to someone else then there's nothing Apple can do and you shouldn't do it. If you want to stop someone else from using your account then change your password and don't ever tell anyone what it is.

You don't have to check privacy 24/7 - you're only doing that because you don't understand how security works and you don't listen when people try to help you.

I don't understand why you want a log of what was accessed where. Are you letting other people use your phone? If so then you shouldn't or you should accept that they are going to access stuff.

If you think that your Whatsapp account has been hacked then change the password and DON'T TELL ANYONE ELSE WHAT IT IS.

No one can access your iPhone via Whatsapp.

I think you have a very deep misunderstanding of how the iPhone works, how your Apple ID works, how access to phone features works and general security around mobile devices. You should make an appointment with your local Apple store and go through all your concerns with them so they can explain it to you face-to-face. iPhones, when used correctly, are very secure. Whatever problems and shortcomings you are seeing seem mostly due to your utter misunderstanding of how the iPhone and its security features work. Go to an Apple store and get some help with using your phone.

No Whatsapp, no Google meet.
Google meet is also big red flag.

Also apple should get rid of
Apple ID, Bluetooth, Wifi, Hotspot, Find my iPhone, Camera also
• Keep Microphone access only for calling.

Apple should release fully secure version of its Phone.

If you are in rush to close issues. Why even have a forum?

The forum is useful for those that have an issue and for most they are grateful for the help that is given to them. It is very clear where you are coming from because, you can't seem to focus on any one issue and when it is explained to you, there is no sense of understanding and you simply move on to some other topic like you have once again done with some fake ads for some products sold at high prices.

You can continue to post and hope someone else will go along the rabbit hole journey with you, but it will not be me. Good luck and have a great day.

Apple works closely with CERT IN. Is CERT IN or Apple spying on people?

Also why would I post if I didnt face any problem.

Have you turned on " Search Suggestions" and "Safari Suggestions" in Safari's settings? If so, then turn them off.

Are you an official Apple person? If not why are you defending it. I have mentioned such a serious security breach, which I have seen.

There are other issues also:

  1. If I turn on Wifi, I can see something called as "Managed Networks" (from Telecom provider), what are these?
  2. If I turn on Bluetooth, I dont see any security, anyone can connect and I dont even know.
  3. Find My iPhone can be used by someone to track me.
  4. WhatsApp and any installed app can used to get access to my phone it seems.
  5. Rather than using the phone features, I have to constantly keep going through settings to turn these off.
  6. I used an gym app and it is able to listen to my phone microphone remotely.
  7. Mostly scared of the way anyone can listen to my phone's microphone and camera. My daily conversations are used in movies, ads.

Can hardly use the new features?

  • Are you signed into a Google account when performing searches?
  • Cellular providers add Managed Networks to allow WiFi access under certain circumstances when there is no or poor cellular connectivity. For example, T-Mobile partners with an Airline for in-flight Wifi and Verizon partners with sports stadiums for connectivity due to congestion. That does not mean your device is being managed and honestly I don't know of any cellular provider that does not also include a managed network. All the major ones I know of have them.
  • Apps only have Microphone access when you give them permission.
  • FindMy cannot allow someone else to track you unless you have given them your Account/Password or sharing your location with them.
  • No one can connect to your device using Bluetooth unless you have previously paired that device on your phone or allowed Bluetooth access for the app. You can check in the Privacy & Security Settings.
  • No one here is an official Apple person. You are not speaking to Apple on this user to user support site.
  • Unclear what you are talking about with WhatsApp or installed app can "seemingly" access your phone.
  • Sorry, I have not seen a security breach.
  • For the link you were concerned about, the user admitted their phone was jailbroken, so all bets are off related to security for that user.

There have been 4-5 incidences which has put me in this scared state.

  1. My family member also has an iPhone and wallpaper on that iPhone got changed without our knowledge.
  2. Family member iPhone was just lying as it is and we pick up and Youtube plays a particular video about a famous personality in India. During this time I am in front of my Samsung TV which is running on Android with Wifi connected to same iPhone.
  3. My iPhone keyword suddenly types a word which is local Indian language, quite hard for AI or speech to text to spell it.
  4. Same incident of typing happened again, this time with Safari Google searches as I have narrated in this post.
  5. If someone is spying on me by any other way, how is he/she able to access iPhone safari searches?

========

1

>>>These managed networks are having auto join, and I am not sure if this is genuine.

3

>>>Yes ideally you should only be able to track you device, but I do feel someone is tracking me without my knowledge and this feature is the culprit.

4 WhatsApp - and any app - can only get access to your phone if you allow it. When you install the app it will ask permission for the things it needs access to - e.g. contacts, calendar, phone, camera, etc. and can't get access unless you allow it . Have you just been saying "OK" to all those pop-ups you get when you install apps or have you been reading them to understand what you've been allowing access to?

>>>

No, I have only allowed those that are required for a while when it needs and then turn off

5 Turn what off? Question doesn't make sense

>>> Exact same thing I am saying above, I have to allow permission then go to app to turn it off.

As you are saying it will only access if you allow it.

If we dont turn the microphone and camera off, these apps are still using it to spy on us, even when we dont use these features.

Shouldn't the iOS turn this off as soon as the app is closed. Why should apps have these permissions all the time.

Also why does there is a need for creating permissions for apps?

Decision should be made by iOS and not apps when which permission is required.

  1. No I am not signed into Google and also I was not signed into Apple Account.
  2. You can check in the Privacy & Security Settings.

>>> What is the point of buying such Costly phone if I have to keep checking privacy 24*7.

What am I paying so much for then?

Apple cant even create a simple log of when the phone was accessed what exactly has happened during that access and which apps are accessed.

For ex:

iPhoneAccessedByXYZAtATIME

-------App 1 was accessed

-------App 2 was accessed

-------App 3 accessed microphone

It does provide the privacy and security for a day but its hard to distinguish what was accessed and during which

session

Also if I dont want anyone else to use my apple account, there is no settings to remove all other users.

Whatsapp session may be hacked I guess and anyone can use that to reconnect, something is a mess. I dont know.

All I know is iPhone with all faceid and passcode was unable to secure it. Anyone could just access my safari browser and type any words. Ridiculous.

Gym app is something which is local, but even the developers of these apps were able to listen to my microphone.

Google meet on my family member's iphone is also suspicious.

==================================================

Only calling apps should have microphone access,

Why should other apps get raw microphone access, shouldn't microphone data be encrypted for these other apps? Should these apps get access to microphone or Apple should create a service which handles any request for word based ads and handle it by themselves.

Apple should use only its calling app, no other apps should have microphone and camera permissions.

No Whatsapp, no Google meet.

Google meet is also big red flag.

Also apple should get rid of

  • Apple ID, Bluetooth, Wifi, Hotspot, Find my iPhone, Camera also

How do you feel about Google retaining your search history?

That's a hint by the way.

You are looking in the wrong place, and you are ignoring all of the sound advice you've been given from some highly experienced iPhone users, who are asking nothing in return. If you really want a solution to your concerns, I suggest you listen to them.

Otherwise, get yourself one of these:

This is the straightforward and simple reason that I see.

Even if you don't agree, but some app was used to access my iPhone is one of the possibility is what I see.

Simple is access anyone's app account, use that to get into the iPhone and then open search like this in safari.

Installed apps are a loophole which could be used to get into people's phones.

1 managed networks from your Carrier are there to allow you to connect to their networks - usually WiFi that they provide for convenience in their stores or malls, etc. You agreed to this when you signed up with your carrier.

2 no one can connect to your bluetooth without you giving them permission. If someone tried you'd see a pop-up to allow them.

3 Only you can use Find My Phone to track your devices. The only exception is AirTags which have anti-stalking tech. Check google for more info.

4 Whatstapp - and any app - can only get access to your phone if you allow it. When you install the app it will ask permission for the things it needs access to - e.g. contacts, calendar, phone, camera, etc. and can't get access unless you allow it . Have you just been saying "OK" to all those pop-ups you get when you install apps or have you been reading them to understand what you've been allowing access to?

5 Turn what off? Question doesn't make sense

6 An app can only access your microphone if you have allowed it. Go into settings, privacy, scroll down to Microphone and if it's turned on then turn it off.

7 As above - the only way an app can access your microphone and camera is if you have allowed it. When you install an app you need to read all those notifications you get and understand what you are and are not allowing it to do . Apps can only access stuff that you allow.
