iMovie clips turn black

I play my iMovie project and some parts turn black!! I saved it too and the same parts go black (black screen don’t see Anything) or when it gets to those clips, the project will stop and iMovie will stop working altogether. I want to delete the app, but I don’t know if that will be helpful. Plus I’m scared of losing all my projects. I am operating on my iPad (10th generation) so on the iMovie app. I tried adding clips, but it was the same one and those clips in addition to the previous ones all turned black like the screen turns blank. I don’t know what to do at this point I don’t want to delete anything.

Hi,

There might be some corruption or rendering issue in the clips that turn black. Or possibly the problem is confined to this one project.

Try putting the black clips into a new project and see if the problem persists. If the clips still show black, re-render the black clips on your Mac with the free download Handbrake. As a test, convert one of the clips to H.264, Mp4/AAC that Handbrake will do by default. Do that even if the codec already is indicated to be Mp4/AAC. Re-rendering often cures issues.

 You can get Handbrake here:

 https://handbrake.fr/

A simple way to do it is to open Handbrake and do a File/Open Source. Navigate to your video and choose it as the source from the resulting screen. Then do File/Start Encoding. Wait a couple of minutes for the conversion to

complete. Then save and import the converted clip into iPad iMovie. Now see if it plays normally.
