I have recently bought the new M3 iPad Air with its new Magic Keyboard, the keys and the trackpad work perfectly fine, but I found out that the backlight is missing in this generation Magic Keyboard. Moreover, it doesn’t allow me to turn the backlight on in settings or the control centre. How could I fix it or the backlight function is remove in this generation Magic Keyboard

I have the same issue: No backlights at all with my M3 13 inch white new keyboard. Also no controls and whatever I do nothing happens.
Looking to the various sites (Apple) it does not mention anything on this being included, however on the pro version is does.
Careful conclusion: Did Apple really create a keyboard for a fortune in ugly white only without backlight in the keyboard???? If correct I will return it directly and buy something with decent price and lights included.
For me this is something they sneaky hiding in there sales info and completely not fair, be honest I would say.

The new [white] Magic Keyboard Folio for the iPad (A16) does not feature illuminated keys.
Apple invite submission of comments and feedback via its Product Feedback portal:
The back lighting should appear as soon as you unlock your iPad. I know mine does not light up during the day but works well when the light is not as bright. This article offers some good trouble shooting tips. I hope it helps.
