Macbook Pro cursor freezes, does not respond to option-command-escape

2015 computer updated to Monterey 12.7.6. I use touchpad, no mouse. Cursor freeze happens when I use Firefox, Messages, Apple TV, Word, Excel. To fix I must turn off power, & then sign back into everything. I only have a few windows open at once.

It's happening more often- a couple of times/month. Any suggestions to prevents this?

Hi!

Here are some possible things you can do:

Check for Updates: Make sure macOS and all apps are up to date.

Reset SMC and NVRAM: This can resolve issues with hardware and system settings.

Activity Monitor: Check for any apps using too many resources (like CPU or memory).

Create a New User: Create a new account to see if the issue is account-specific.

Disable Hardware Acceleration: Turn off hardware acceleration in apps like Firefox, Word, etc.

Run Disk Utility: Use First Aid in Disk Utility to check for disk errors.

Reinstall macOS: If nothing works, reinstall macOS (after backing up your data).

Let me know if you need anymore assistance!
