Double-click with iPhone instead of Apple Watch for confirming Apple Pay when using a computer?

When I use Apple Pay to pay for something on my Mac, if I wear my Apple Watch (Series 7), Safari will ask me to confirm by double-clicking my watch. When I don't wear my watch at my computer, it will ask to confirm payment by double-clicking my iPhone.

Can the iPhone always be the default for confirming Apple Pay payments? The Watch always takes much longer and sometimes fails, whereas the iPhone confirms quickly without any issues.

I have looked into iPhone and Watch Apple Wallet settings, but no such option exists. Also, there does not seem to be an obvious setting in Accessibility for this.

Mac Studio, macOS 15.3

No, there’s no setting to force iPhone only to approve Apple Pay transactions on a Mac. It just depends how much you view this as an inconvenience. If it’s that big an issue, remove Apple Wallet from your Watch. That’s pretty drastic for many users, but it can go the other way and become very complicated too. Sometimes the pursuit of perfection becomes impractical. 😀
