Replacing shared Logic Pro login with new purchase

So this may be a slightly strange one. I've been using a friend's Logic Pro for a little while, but now I'm ready to purchase it myself. So far I've been asking permission to update via his work's account (we used to work at the same place) but all the accounts appear to have been removed so I can't update.

I currently get this message when trying to update:

If I was to uninstall this version of Logic Pro and then purchase it on my own Apple ID, would there be any issues? I have quite a few projects on the go and would hate to be locked out of them!

I've already made a backup of Logic and my projects, but I want to make sure what the correct procedure would be (would I need to uninstall the sound library and every footprint before trying to purchase?) Or would it just be safer to wait until I'm able to purchase a new Mac?

Thanks in advance.
