Pages collaboration in MacOS is extremely slow

Has anyone noticed how slow Pages and the computer become when sharing a document for collaboration? The rainbow wheel shows up every time I start typing and it locks the editing; it's so annoying.

It seems like the syncing process is in the same thread as the editor. For software made by Apple, this is unacceptable.

You are at the mercy of the collaborated document size and the continuously variable Internet bandwidth to that cloud-based document location. This cannot be fixed in the local Pages application and Apple does not document how it implements that remote connection to the collaborated document.

Unacceptable or not, no Apple employees participate in these fellow user-supported communities, and we cannot fix Pages design or collaboration disappointment.

You are using free-ware and Microsoft does it differently should you wish to pay for an alternative collaboration solution.

If well-designed, the syncing process should be asynchronous and not block the editor thread. The document size and bandwidth shouldn't matter, as a good syncing process should sync only the delta, not the whole document. Again, bad design and total disregard for user experience.
