CarPlay no longer works in Hyundai vehicles

My Apple CarPlay stopped working a few months ago in the Hyundai. The icon on my dashboard turned gray so it could no longer be selected and then when I installed the latest firmware the icon completely disappeared. When I look at the CarPlay options on my iPhone 13 iOS 18.3.2 my car no longer shows up as an option. Why is this happening and how do I get it resolved? I already contacted Bluelink and Hyundai and they state it's an Apple issue.

Yes, I do. I've turned it off to see if that made a difference, but it didn't.

Don't just turn it off, REMOVE the VPN Profile COMPLETELY from your iPhone. VPNs are just unnecessary on iPhone and cause all sorts of connection issues. After removing the VPN Profile, Force Restart your iPhone --> Force restart iPhone - Apple Support

Then try to reconnect to CarPlay.

Pretty much my entire family have Hyundai, Kia, or Genesis vehicles.

No problems at all with CarPlay.

If you haven't done it already, reset the head unit. There should be a small indented reset button on the front of the head unit somewhere near the audio controls.

Are you using wired or wireless CarPlay?

I've tried both wired and wireless to no avail. It's even more frustrating that after the update, CarPlay doesn't even show up as an option on my car or my phone. At least prior to that it was only grayed out and I thought that I might be able to get it resolved. The dealership is a joke - they want to charge me a $250 diagnostic fee to look at it.

The update should not have removed CarPlay option in your car. Apple can't remove it from your car. But there could be an issue on the Hyundai side, so it would be advisable to contact them about their infotainment system.

I know several people with Hyundai/Kia/Genesis cars and iOS 18.3.2 didn't remove the CarPlay option for them.

I still recommend you delete the VPN provide completely, though.

That doesn’t solve the issue of the firmware update removing CarPlay from the entertainment/navigation system. There’s no longer an option on the car. I’m wondering if this is a Hyundai/Apple partnership issue at this point.

A Firmware update to the phone can not remove it from the car.

There is no 'partnership issue' that would affect this.

Have you tried a different phone in the car?

If you have and that also doesn't appear to support it, you're going to have to take this up with Hyundai. They did release an over the air firmware update recently. Something may have gone wrong.

Before you do that, however, go through the menus on the head unit and do a factory reset.
