iTunes on PC will not sync with iPhone and has a yellow "other" bar

iTunes on Windows 11 and iPhone 16 Pro is not syncing. The storage capacity categories are just one yellow bar labeled "other" and a greyed-out sync button.

Try rebooting the phone, then on the phone use Settings > General > iPhone Storage to see if the phone can breakdown the usage. Assuming it does try reconnecting to iTunes to see if there is any improvement. If not I suspect you need to backup the device, restore as a new device, then restore your backup and lastly reload any media.


I recommend backing up to both iCloud and your computer in case one backup doesn't want to restore when the time comes. See also Archive iPhone backup in Windows - Apple Community.
