Why did adding a row in Numbers create a superimposed duplicate spreadsheet?

I tried to add another row to my spreadsheet. Nothing happened. I pressed the key again and suddenly another spreadsheet with the same figures was superimposed over my spreadsheet. Like when you have double vision. Tried different things as I couldn't read the spreadsheet with the numbers on top of the first sheet. Pressed a key to delete a sheet, and lost the entire spreadsheet.

Why did it suddenly have two copies on top of each sheet that obscured the number?

In the past in Numbers you could add another row by pressing a key on add another row under the menu heading table.

Today, it seems you press an equal sign under the last row to addd another row. Please explain how to add extra columns and rows, and why the glitch happened that deleted the entire worksheet.

There are lots of ways to add a row.

One is to click in the table and in the menu Table > Add Row Below (or Add Row Above).

Perhaps the easiest to just click the = lower left, or click the 」lower right and drag down.

Or you can click any cell in the last row of a table and hit the 'return' key.

Option up arrow and option down arrow will also add a row.

Not sure how you ended up with an extra table superimposed on the original. To delete a table click in it, then click its concentric circles "bulls-eye" upper left and hit 'delete'.
