Why is my Apple Watch Series 6 stuck in recovery mode?

hey everyone I’m having problems restoring this Apple Watch to factory, it consistently tries to update, gets stuck almost finished with “preparing” showing on my iPhone. Then it restarts and dances between 2-5 ticks on the progress wheel, then crashes, restarts and goes right back to recovery mode. I’ve forced restarts many times but is there a step I am missing here????
