What does the 'Cellular Network' button in Control Center do?

Is a button in the Control Center. What does it DO?

Apple says this icon means "You’re in range of your cellular network and can make and receive calls. If there’s no signal, "No service" or "SOS" appears.". Duh, so what's the button for?

Hello!

That button turns off your Cellular Data. I mean I don’t know the nitty gritty details and all the fancy explanations about what happens, but when you turn off the button in the Control Center, you’re disconnected from your Carrier.

Have a great day!

AirPlane mode used to turn off all radios except Bluetooth. Now, it is possible to enable AirPlane Mode without turning off Wi-Fi.

So, if you have Wi-Fi Calling enabled, you can make a call even though Cellular is off. You might want to turn off Cellular if your phone has a very week signal or no signal. When this happens, the battery will be used up very quickly as the phone continues to continually search for a cellular signal.
