I noticed that when I set up my user it came with a guest login and some features would not allow me to change them, saying I didn’t have permission. Also, the computer came with dual ports for a thunderbolt bridge card, which is not standard on a MacBook Air.

You have asked us to guess all the facts regarding your purchase. We don’t know whether you purchased this from an Apple Store, Authorized Apple Retailer, or somewhere else. We don’t know whether you got a factory sealed, unopened box. We don’t know if you were given some price discount to accept a refurbished product.
So the best advice is to seek assistance from the seller.
