Why is Apple Services so opaque?

There are payments on my Paypal account that do not correlate with what I can see that I've purchased on a (difficult to find) list of purchases on the Apple website. I have an idea that the payments are for a game my son is using, but why do I need to guess? Is Apple using the "keep you guessing so you give up" technique? Apple should go out of its way to be as transparent as possible.
