Buy Apple Care + option gone in System Settings

Hi,

I bought a new MacBook 16" Pro M4 Pro and it was activated on January 30, 2025. I understand that there is an option to buy Apple Care + up to 60 days after my purchase. I got sidetracked and the option seems to be gone from my System Settings -> Apple Care menu.

The 60 days period is not over yet and I wonder how can I buy it? I'm located in North Macedonia, which is not listed in the support countries. I can only get support through authorized Apple retail stores, which told me they do not sell Apple Care products.

My 60-day period should expire in about 10 days and I have no idea where to buy Apple Care +. Any help or guidance will be greatly appreciated.

Just an update in case anyone experiences the same problem:

I successfully purchased Apple Care + for my laptop without linking it to my iTunes. I had someone in the US buy it for me from the official Apple website.

You need to make sure that:

  1. You are located in a country with an official Apple online store on apple.com or you can use a VPN
  2. You have a credit card from that country
  3. Sign in and do the flow to get to the Buy Apple Care
  4. Choose your device

This is what I got as an advice from an authorized Apple Service Provider in my country. Now they can use my Apple Care + plan for any future repairs.

My laptop is now covered with an automatic Apple Care + renewal every year. The only thing is that it's not linked to my iTunes (iCloud) account, implying that the person's card will be charged next year instead of my credit card, which I have set up in my iCloud.

Now in my Mac's system settings, I can see the Apple Care + with a yellowed "Finish setup" button because it's a standalone Apple Care + for my device and is not linked to my iCloud subscriptions. That's about it.

Still hoping that Apple resolves this because it makes no sense to be able to buy their products, but not their extended warranty coverage.

I checked via the online tool and it says the Purchase Date is January 31, 2025.

Maybe I can chat with support in the US?

Note that I got it directly from the factory via an official Apple Supplier for the retailers in my country because it’s a very customized and topped up model and was told it’s the only such model in Europe.

To me, it doesn’t make sense the 60-day countdown to begin once it got out of the factory. And the purchase date makes sense - Jan 31, 2025.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Getting sidetracked often results in unexpected problems. I hope you can get this resolved but next time you might consider adding AppleCare+ to your order when purchasing, not after. That’s what I always do.

Unfortunately, my country does not have an official Apple Store, but only authorized Apple retailers, which do not offer any AppleCare products.

And I had to dig through contacts to find the official supplier to get me a customized one from the factory directly.

For a laptop of over 4000 EUR, I would expect that Apple has a way to handle this.
