How can I permanently disable autoplay in the Music app??

I periodically find that the Music app has forgotten that I do not want it to play similar music when the song, album or playlist I am playing ends. I can find no easily identifiable triggers that cause the Music app to lose track of this setting. It feels like the app is choosing the most inconvenient time possible (like when I am driving in heavy traffic and can’t pull over to select a new playlist to start).
