iPhone Podcast app auto plays

How do you turn off podcasts? I see someone back in 2023 (user Pcarnut) perfectly described the issues I have with the app auto playing when I get in the car, even if the app isn’t open. I have not been able to find a way to delete podcasts. I had listened to one guy for two episodes because he was talking about an issue I was researching. I did not subscribe to his channel. I listened to a podcast this morning to a channel I am subscribed to and then this other unsubscribed podcast automatically started playing when my subscribed one was done. Now I can’t figure out how to get rid of the one I don’t want to hear any more. Why can’t I swipe right or left like texts or emails do to delete? Why isn’t there a setting in the app to turn on/off auto play? I really despise this app but I don’t have any other options for listening to the industry podcasts I need to hear.
