iMac display/lcd has a vertical lines colored according to the color displayed by the screen

My iMac 24-inch M1 2021 screen has vertical lines from the bottom to the middle of the screen and also has horizontal shadow on the half screen in same. Btw, the vertical flat line is colored according to the color displayed by the screen. When I take a screenshot the picture is normal. Any idea how to fix that?

This is the preview taken from a screenshot when the pic looks normal and with an iPhone when the pic is actually as on the display.

Thanks in advance!

Dear Community Member,

I'm sorry to hear about the screen issues you're experiencing with your iMac M1. Having faced similar challenges, I understand how disruptive this can be. Here's some guidance that might assist you:

Immediate Steps:

  1. Contact Apple Support: Reach out to Apple Support to report the issue. They can provide initial troubleshooting steps and guide you on the best course of action.
  2. Visit an Authorized Service Center: Schedule a visit to an Apple Authorized Service Provider for a professional diagnosis. This will help determine the exact cause and potential solutions.

Temporary Workarounds:

  • Adjust Brightness Settings: In my experience, setting the brightness level between 30-40% and disabling auto-brightness helped reduce the appearance of flickering lines. This adjustment might allow you to continue working with minimal disruption.
  • Disable Night Shift and True Tone: Some users have reported that turning off features like Night Shift and True Tone can alleviate screen flickering. To do this

Go to System Preferences > Displays > Display Settings.

Uncheck Auto Adjust Brightness and True Tone.

Navigate to the Night Shift tab and set it to Off.

Considerations:

  • Overheating: Ensure your iMac is in a well-ventilated area, as overheating can contribute to display issues. Regularly clean any dust buildup that might impede airflow.
  • Software Updates: Keep your macOS updated. Sometimes, display issues are addressed in software updates.

Community Observations:

Several users have reported similar issues with the iMac M1 displays, often after the warranty period. Some have identified potential causes such as LCD malfunctions or issues with internal cables. In many cases, the recommended solution has been a screen replacement. Apple Support Community

It is most likely a hardware problem, please take the computer to your local Apple Authorized Service Provider to be professionally diagnosed. If your computer is covered by AppleCare it will be covered. If you did not get AppleCare then expect approximately a $700 repair if you happen to be in the USA.

Hi,

Your last post was removed by Apple for some of the comments you made. Please carefully read the Terms of Use on this forum, you can find a link to them at the bottom of this web page.

I understand your frustration however on these forums we are all end users just like you and are powerless. That being said, currently Apple does not have a repair program in place for this issue you are experiencing. However, if you do choose to have the computer repaired by an Apple Authorized Service Provider AND at a later date Apple institutes are repair program then you would be eligible for a reimbursement.

Also, IMHO it is ALWAYS a good idea to purchase and renew AppleCare. I have been a long time customer of Apple's and always buy it for my Macs, iPhones and iPads as they can be very expensive to repair. Fortunately AppleCare is reasonably priced and I have only had to use it 1 or 2 times over the years so I have had peace of mind. Obviously this was your decision and you decided to NOT get AppleCare and to be honest in most cases it is not needed, however in the times you need it (like the situation you are now in) it would have more than paid itself.

Kind regards,
