If automatic app updates aren't working on your iOS 18 iPhone, check your App Store settings for automatic updates and ensure you have a stable internet connection. If that doesn't work, try clearing the App Store cache or restarting your iPhone.

Here's a more detailed breakdown of troubleshooting steps:

1. Check App Store Settings:

  • Go to Settings > App Store.
  • Ensure "App Updates" is turned on.
  • Verify Automatic Downloads are enabled.
    • If you want apps to update via mobile data, ensure "Automatic Downloads" is also enabled.
    • If you prefer to only update via Wi-Fi, ensure "Automatic Downloads" is turned off.

2. Check Internet Connection:

  • Make sure you have a stable Wi-Fi or cellular connection.
  • Try restarting your Wi-Fi router or cellular connection.

3. Clear App Store Cache:

  • Open the App Store app.
  • Click any icon at the end of the app 10 times.
    • This will clear the cache and take you to the first tab.
  • Restart the App Store.

4. Restart Your iPhone:

  • A simple restart can resolve many minor issues.

5. Check for iOS Updates:

Go to Settings > General > Software Update and Install any available updates.

6. Delete and Reinstall the App (If Necessary):

  • If the issue persists with a specific app, try deleting and reinstalling it.

7. Check for App Store Issues:

  • Sign out of the App Store (not iCloud) and reboot your device.
  • Then go to App Store → Updates to download the update.
  • Download any free app, and then try downloading the problematic app again.
