Thank you for the reply. My concern is, because monterey OS is no longer supporting updates. And I can't download any other OS, my mac won't receive security or other updates. Essentially ending the live of the my Mac.
It is the beginning of the end of your Mac.
Your Mac will continue to run the OS and apps that you have. Apps that are compatible with the OS will remain available in the App Store for some time. Those things don’t just stop working.
However,
• You won’t be able to upgrade the OS to anything newer and more secure.
• The hardware is classified as obsolete by Apple. New repair parts are likely unavailable should something fail.
• Some new software from the likes of Microsoft, Adobe, TurboTax and others is no longer compatible with your OS. You can still use what you have but can’t take advantage of offered updates.
• Eventually you will begin to see financial, educational and health related websites complain that your OS and/or browser is no longer supported.
These are all signs that it’s time to start planning your exit from this Mac and be looking for is replacement. Things won’t get better.
Ten years is a pretty good run for any computer.

Absolutely not true. *IF* you're sensible when browsing, and with email, you minimise any security risks - and don't forget, even the latest security updates won't protect someone stupid, and I'm sure you're not!
*IF* the software you run is enough for your needs, then there is no point upgrading just for the sake of it. The real issue is with browsers gradually stopping running in older systems (the only reason I can still use Mavericks 10.9.5 is because of projects like Firefox Dynasty which is a tweak of the latest Firefox). However Monterey can run all the latest browsers and no doubt will for quite some time to come.
It is not necessarily the end of your Mac, but it is the highest major version of macOS that you can run. Your Mac is not compatible with Ventura and higher.
I totally understand. And agree with the fast pace of computer development, 10 years of support is pretty good. Thanks to you both for the insight.
