iMac image board shot how can I erase HD?

I have established my old iMac image board is shot. Screen is Black. And being at the back, experts say, its too much trouble to replace it . its too old anyway, OS13, but how can I erase the HD if I can't see any dialogues or buttons or commands? One company offered to crush it like a car wrecker!

Provided that you encrypted its startup disk with FileVault, then there is no need to erase it. It is utterly worthless without its FV password. It cannot even be mounted.

If you did not use FV, then destroying it as one would with a car wrecker, or an industrial shredder, or the equivalent is the only way to ensure data recovery is literally impossible.

with the gpu dead it's very very unlikely your mac would even boot all the way to macOS, so it's not just a question of the display being black

only way to do what you wish would be to open up the mac and take out the harddrive and put it in an external enclosure where you can then access the data or format the drive depending on your wishes, that is what I did when the gpu of my imac 2011 died
