Atmos surround format issue in Logic 11.1

I am returning to an Atmos project in Logic that I last worked on in September '24 in Logic 11.0. After opening it in Logic 11.1.2, I found that tracks panned to the rear height channels were not heard. Apparently, Atmos mode now forces the surround format to 7.1.2, the Atmos bed configuration, so audio panned to rear height channels using the 3d panners are not making it to the Atmos plugin. Looking in the project settings, if you have Atmos selected, you are indeed limited to the 7.1.2 surround format.

Fortunately I discovered that if you unselect Atmos surround mode (Spatial Audio: Off), you can then select Surround Format: 7.1.4, it leaves the Atmos plugin on the Master track, and the 3d panners start working as expected.

Anyone else run into this? Maybe just yet another Apple undocumented change of behavior, but it smells like a bug.

This problem may have been the result of overlapping Output I/O assignments between 7.1.4 and 5.1.2. E.g., assigning outputs 9 and 10 to both top fronts in the 7.1.4 config and top mids in the 5.1.2 config. This seems like a reasonable thing to do for monitoring Atmos in different formats on a 7.1.4 speaker system, but prevents those channels from being heard in Atmos 7.1.4.
