How do I remove grandson from Family Sharing?

My grandson lived w/me rite after his dad died 3yrs ago. I gave him ipad. His bio mom came n took him over yr ago. I have zero access 2 him. Can’t even text. Mom doesn’t speak 2 me either. I NEED him off family sharing bc I’m trying to do something on phone n don’t want his name anywhere on my phone in case I’m talking 2 untrustworthy ppl.

i want to thank anyone for their time in advance who tries to help me. I appreciate our time is valuable and it means a lot 2 me when we help each other.

going out in a limb but we are ONE. So I’m very grateful 2 other ppl who use their time, energy n knowledge 2 help someone else. I appreciate you even if ur helping someone else. I personally appreciate any time you spend helping me. TMI?🤗

I have a feeling there won’t be help bc this is t an easy ask. Why do they insist on telling us how we use OUR PERSONAL INFO once they get it?!

Hi allyn325,

welcome to the Apple user-to-user) community !

Am no expert in this area, and we do not know if your grandson is a child, teen, or adult.

Fortunately Apple Support has helpful articles online.

See how to: Manage Family Sharing settings - Apple Support

Eg: says:

To review how to remove family members, see  Remove members from a family group on your iPhone or iPad with iOS 17, iPadOS 17 or earlier

and

also says:

  • Any family member over the age of 13 years can remove themselves from a family group at any time. Just select your name and then select Leave Family. You can also sign in to the Apple Account website and choose Remove Account in the Family Sharing section.

  • For security reasons, a child (under 13 years) can’t remove their account from a family and can’t stop sharing details such as Screen Time without the Screen Time passcode. The organiser has access to shared family content on your device, such as shared photo albums and shared calendars, and can view Screen Time activity.

There are a lot more tips in the aove articles, especially on removing family members ... some depending on which iOS version (eg 17 or 18) is installed on your iPhone, some depending on age.

All the best :-}
