Mail app not sending emails on MacBook Air

I am running Mail vs 16 for Sonoma 14.6.1 on a Macbook Air and no emails have been sent for 2 days as they are stuck in the outbox. They are from 3 different email accounts. Help please.

Same for me. MacBook Pro OS 15.3.2.


It was intermittent at first and I suspected my email provider. However, today it is nearly every email stuck with error message about not connecting and I tested with multiple email providers - work email, iCloud, etc. - all failed. The emails that were stuck would also multiple send even though they were still in the Outbox.


I tried everything, then moved to a hotspot and things seem to work from hotspot. I don't think it is the wireless, per se (Xfinity), because if I'm on wireless I can send no problem from my iPhone. Is there something in the way it tries to handshake over wireless?

The one off workaround is to drag the files that are stuck in the Mac Mail Outbox, into Mac Mail Drafts, then once these have replicated to your iPhone, send the files from there. The downside of this is that once you have done this, Outlook mails will only appear on your phone and not appear in Mac Mail!


Come on Apple, you used to be an organisation I could trust to get your engineering right....not any more it seems!

Same here mails stuck in my outbox. Desktop Mac - macOS Ventura 13.7.5. Seemed to be linked to the upgrade to Ventura. Inbox receiving ok. Internet good. If I check directly on mail server - userid and access fine. Also mailbox not full. I have tried changing SMTP outbound port settings - but mail still stuck. I have spent hours trying to fix this. Should I reinstall Ventura? Any suggestions appreciated.
