Can employees log out of Apple managed ID on corporate devices to install personal apps?

Hi

Our company wants to start using Apple Business Manager and Apple managed ID.

I have read the documentation and understand that you cannot install apps from the App Store on devices where the user is logged in with an Apple managed id.

The only way to do this is to deliver apps using an MDM solution like Intune.

However, there is a way on corporate devices where they can log out of their Apple managed ID account from the App Store and log in with their personal account.

My question is if this is a supported option or is this an unofficial way to get apps on the phone?

We would like to use ABM with Apple managed ID, however we can't imagine having all apps in Intune, given that employees need to install parking apps, banking apps, etc. occasionally which we are unable to predict in advance.

Thanks

You can have a separate account logged in for purchasing. This is a supported configuration. At every org I've been at, we have not used managed Apple IDs for devices. We have encouraged users to sign in to a personal ID so that they can use wallet, find my, install non-blocked personal apps, etc.
