FCP: How to hide Project Snapshots?

Hi friends!

I have a bunch of footage from our gig, and I'm creating a bunch of "singles", as separate Projects, for release to YouTube.

Each of those Projects I "Snapshot" along the way in order to have an easy way to rollback in case I mess things up beyond easy repair.

The result is that I have a ton of clutter here that I'd like to thin out:

  • There is a Filter feature (shown), but Favoriting and Rejecting doesn't appear to apply to Projects, just Clips.
  • There is also a Smart Collection feature, but all those options appear designed around Clip attributes, not Project attributes.
  • There are also "Folders", but my attempt at moving a Project into a Folder failed. The GUI didn't allow it.

Neither Google nor the Manual appear to be helping me here. Still, I feel like this wheel was invented a long time ago, and I'm hoping you guys have a simple workflow for handling this situation that will save me time.

Thanks in advance!

Dave

Thank you both for the info and ideas!

I do now see the option to filter on the Name attribute containing the string "Snapshot". So I created two new Smart Collections: one for all the Snapshots, and one for everything else.

This seems to work quite beautifully, and saves me from having to "move" Snapshots to another Collection every time I make a new one.

Thank you all!

You can create a smart collection with many different criteria. So long as these snapshots can be distinguished from other projects (for example because they have a timestamp on their names), they can be included or excluded from a smart collection.

Another way is to create a separate Event and move the snapshots from their location to that separate Event.
