Can audio on a slide be faded out before the slide transitions to the next one?

I like the way that audio clips can be inserted into slides to play as background music, which is something that PowerPoint doesn't handle properly when the presentation is exported as video. But is there any way that the audio can be faded before the slide transitions to the next one? For example, I want audio to play on slides 1, 2, 3 and 4, but fade out gtradually before slide 5.
