How to import from a DVD into Final Cut Pro 10.4.6 when I open up and attempt to import media I'm not seeing the DVD from the internal DVD player on my iMac 2011 version using High Sierra

You can not import directly from DVD to FCP. Get Handbreak to convert the DVD to a usable file format.
