Final Cut Pro performance issue on 2020 iMac with upgraded RAM and SSD

Hey folks,

I have a 2020 iMac. I'm a video editor, and for the past three years, I've been working on this device. It was smooth in the beginning, but recently, the performance has become really sluggish. I connected with a third-party service center, and they helped me reset the device and upgrade my RAM to 64GB. Still, the performance is slow, and I'm having a hard time editing and operating this device. I am using external storage hubs too, all top quality. Can they cause this, or should I be worried about something else?

Get the AmorphousDiskMark disk benchmark program from the MacOS App Store. Run it using 4 threads x 4 GB file size on each external drive. Take a screenshot of the numbers. Do the same with Blackmagic Disk Test using a 5GB test file size. For a mid-range single USB-C SSD, the performance should be very roughly in the ballpark of these numbers. This may not be the problem, but it's a simple thing to check.
