How to make an iPod 6 continue a playlist from where it left off?

My ipod 2 died and I purchased an ipod 6. all works well but I have 1 question. I keep the ipod in my car connected via USB and it can be controlled from the radio. as an example, I would start in the morning and drive to work and put on a playlist. when I come out to go home, the ipod comes back on and continues where it left off. but on the next day the ipod goes right to the library and starts at the beginning. I have to re-select the playlist and start over. My ipod2 always continued on where the playlist left off even if I had not used it for a couple of days. Is there a setting in the ipod6 to fix this?
