Used iPod Classic not showing up in Mac iTunes

I bought a used sixth-generation iPod Classic 80GB. I connected to my Mac Mini via USB. It shows up on desktop as an external drive, but does not show up in iTunes. It was formatted FAT32. Reformatted as Mac OS; still appears as external drive, still does not show up in iTunes. Help!

IPod Classic-Windows11-iTunes Hello can you help please. 1. I have an iPod Classic that was previously working fine with iTunes on Windows 10 on my old laptop. 2. The old laptop is obsolete and keeps crashing. 3. I downloaded iTunes for my new laptop that uses Windows 11 but the iPod will not sync. The icon does not appear in the itunes library. 4. The iPod appears as a device via the control panel but diagnostics says it is not connected. 5. I have checked and all the drivers and software are up to date. 6. I have uninstalled the latest version of iTunes and reinstalled a different version with the same result. Can you please offer some advice on the next step. My IT skills are basic so overly technical explanations mean nothing to me. A step by step narrative works best. Many thanks in advance.

iTunes won't recognize my iPod classic I am running the recent version of iTunes (12.12.7.1) on Windows 10 and tried to sync my iPod classic (2009 version I believe) after a long time without syncing. When I plugged it into my computer, I initially got a message stating something along the lines of "the ipod cannot be synced. A duplicate file name was specified." I browsed the forums and manually unchecked the option to sync automatically as suggested. This didn't work, so I followed the next suggestion stating to "scan and fix" the ipod when I re-plugged it into the computer. Again, this did nothing. However, the iPod now will not show up in iTunes anymore to allow me to sync it. I have restarted my computer, iTunes, and my iPod and nothing. The iPod itself works fine. When connected to my computer, my AVG scan pops up showing me it's connected and asking to scan for threats, which I have. My iPod also shows up under my devices and drives under "This PC." When connected to my computer, my iPod screen shows "Connected. Eject before disconnecting" on the iPod. I've tried plugging it into different ports, and there is no difference. What can I do to get my iTunes to recognize my iPod?

I held down the center button and menu button for several seconds to put the iPod into Restore mode. I connected to my MacBook Pro. The screen said it was downloading software to restore. When download was complete, I clicked the button to restore. Alert popped up indicating that software for this iPod is not currently available. What now?

Excuse me. I've been using Macs for so long, I still think of the "Music" app as iTunes. The iPod does not appear in the Music app. I have managed to restore the iPod to factory defaults, but that did not help.
