Fix for iPod Nano (6th & 7th Gen) Not Recognized by Computer

I wanted to share a solution that worked for me in case anyone else is having trouble with their iPod Nano (6th or 7th generation) not being recognized by their computer.

After reaching out to Apple Support about the issue, they suggested I take my devices to the Geek Squad for troubleshooting. At the store, the Geek Squad was able to connect my iPods to their computer without any issues. However, since my own computer wasn’t recognizing them, they recommended that I either bring in my computer for troubleshooting or connect remotely for further assistance.

Before doing that, I decided to investigate further at home—and I found a simple fix! Running the Apple Software Update program that was already installed on my computer resolved the issue completely.

I’m not sure why neither the Apple nor Geek Squad representatives suggested this easy step, but I hope this helps anyone else facing the same problem. Give it a try before going through more complicated troubleshooting!

Hope this helps!
