The whoosh sending mail sound seems to have been disabled in MacOS 15. No amount of clicking and unclicking the 'play other sounds' checkbox in Mail settings has altered the situation. Anyone know how to get it back?

Eventually, when all else failed, I found out it's an undesirable feature of the FOCUS system. PERSONAL Focus neutralizes the Whoosh sound - although it's not documented there and one can't control it. I prevented PERSONAL Focus from kicking in, and the Whoosh sound is working just fine. So there IS a bug here, but it's in the Focus option.

I tried it all. Togging "Play used interface sound effects", rebooting in Safe Mode and reinstalling Sequoia, and still - no whoosh sounds. It has disappeared. This seems like a bug and it's worrying - what else could have been affected? Is there a real fix to the problem?
Well, I can tell you it's not disabled in Sequoia 15.3 running on my M3 iMac.
Can you hear other system sounds?
Try booting into Safe Mode then restart normally. Sometimes that will fix anomalies.
I find. the whole Focus thing to be extremely irritating!
Fixed on my iMac this way: System Settings > Sound > Play sound effects through [toggle to iMac Speakers]. Sent mail now whooshes.
Thanks, this worked. I'm using a M4 mini and had sound set for mac mini speakers. I changed it to my display speakers and now it works. No idea why the built-in speaker didn't work, it works for the startup sound.

Do you have "Play user interface sound effects" enabled in System Settings > Sounds?
Yes I do although I've just toggled it off and on to see if that helped. Sadly not.

This is making me crazy. I spent over an hour today trying the more time consuming fixes like booting from Safe Mode. I reinstalled Sequoia. I've tried every fix on here and from other posts.

Didn’t work for me. For me this was an issue in Focus, a stupid useless feature I can’t permanently delete.
