You need to to give more details about how you are attaching them and how you are trying to access them.
We need to know exactly what you are doing.
Try the settings below exactly as shown (reboot after changing), might fix.
Also, do not manual Sleep, shut for long absences and let the display switch off on timer for normal use:
(or use Control-Command-Q to immediately lock your screen).

My M4 Mac Mini Pro recognizes¹ my Logitech C920 Pro webcam (audio & video) when connected by a USB C to a USB adapter that is in my StarTech portable USB-C hub.
¹ Tested on Sequoia v15.3 with FaceTime and Photo Booth. Have used it in previously with Webex.
I am using a lenovo hub with ethernet, after waking up the hub is always disconnected and I have to unplug and plug it back in to get it working again. I don't want to explain why I am using an ethernet hub, but it should work.
In my limited experience webcams are supposed to be connected via USB so it would appear the ethernet hub is the problem.
The "ethernet" was a vital piece of missing information as anyone reading your original post would assume you were using USB like most people.
Maybe someone else with experience of ethernet can chime in?
New Mac Mini M4. I downloaded the Creative Edge Webcam from Sony. I have a new Sony a6700 camera. I have the PC remote on, and USB streaming on. I have the camera on movie mode. I open the Webcam app and nothing.
