Logic Pro and NI S49: keys not working after firmware update

Hey all, I have a NI S49 midi controller. I have been using it with logic pro for over a year, no issues. recently, I completed a firmware update for the keyboard and now it won't make any sound or recognize the input of the keys. The patches are loading correctly and I see the same patch loaded on the display as I do in logic. The controller is also recognized in my controller settings and I didn't change any settings.

I followed this guide: If Logic Pro for Mac isn't working - Apple Support

and still, no dice.

Anyone have any idea where in Logic I should go to troubleshoot this, or a setting I am maybe missing?

Thanks in advance for your time.

It appears that when I applied the firmware update, the S49 was rebooted in midi 2.0 and that setting (even when I have logic enabled with Midi 2.0) does not work. Swapping to Midi 1.0 and rebooting has solved the issue. Midi 2.0 still doesn't work but at least I have midi 1.0 now!

Hi,

I believe your problem (and solution) is here: Rebuild Defaults

To "Rebuild Defaults" in Logic Pro X, navigate to Logic Pro X > Control Surfaces > Rebuild Defaults; this action essentially resets all the settings related to your connected MIDI controllers, effectively reinitializing their support within Logic Pro X.

  • If you're experiencing issues with your MIDI controller not responding correctly in Logic Pro, rebuilding defaults can often resolve the problem by resetting the controller's configuration.

Hope it helps,

Thank you so much for your response and help! Unfortunately this did not resolve the issue for me. I am still unable to get the keys to work.

It's so odd because the controller is showing setup right and detected and the patch is loading in logic as well as on the display for the controller. But the keys trigger no sound or input.

One more update, I plugged in my Launchkey Mini and it's working fine, so this seems to be unique to the Kontrol S49. I have a ticket open with them, but they have so far been unhelpful.

I have examined the settings of both midi controllers and they are identical other than the color assigned and the fact that one is control surface group 1 and the other is control surface group 2.

I have the same issue. My S49 works fine in stand alone with Komplete but the keyboard behaves oddly in Logic Pro. Some keys do nothing whilst others will change window size or show / hide Live Loops grid yet the transport controls work fine. I just don’t get it. I have tried all of the previously suggested tips to no avail and like the OP my other 3rd party controllers work fine.
