How to disable Messages reply suggestions with Apple Intelligence?

Is there a way to disable the reply suggestions in Messages on macOS Sequoia with Apple Intelligence enabled? These are the reply suggestions I'm referring to:

I have already gone into System Settings > Keyboard > Edit... next to my U.S. Input Source and disabled "Show inline predictive text" alongside all options besides smart quotes and dashes. however, these obnoxious pop-ups persist.

Is the only route disabling Apple Intelligence?

MacBook Air, macOS 15.3

I turned off Apple Intelligence, and it seems to have gone away. There was nothing broken/not working with my MacBook prior to the update installing AI, so I don't feel like I need it.

It may require a restart? If you have Apple Intelligence toggled off in System Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri > Apple Intelligence [Toggle Off], the suggestions like in my screenshot should not show up.

Now, if you have Inline Predictive Text enabled, you may still see that: System Settings > Keyboard > Text Input: Input Sources [Edit...] > Show Inline Predictive Text [Toggle Off].

Yeah, it's a genuine mess, almost like no one at Apple thought this through...

I’ll find out shortly when I get to my desk. I do shut down my MacBook every night. Also, I didn’t know predictive text was an option for the MB, just phones. Either way, I don’t have predictive text enabled - I simply don’t like the feature. The iMessage replies are rainbow colored text, so definitely not predictive text which is grey (from past experiences).
