Quick Time Player and Decompressor Error for PowerPoint Images

I am not able to retrieve the images pasted by the author on the powerpoint presentation on latest version of MS office - it shows me the error "quick time player and decompressor are required to see this picture". I actually tried using the quick time player as well though the forums have said it is of no use.

How do i retrieve those images as I do not have access to the author's laptop or the data originally created on powerpoint?

Please provide a solution
