Configuring 5K resolution on Studio Displays with Mac mini M4

I have purchased two Studio Displays (27-inch, 5K) and connected them to a Mac mini M4.

However, I am unable to configure the 5K resolution.

In the settings, the only acceptible resolution is the default 2560 x 1440, and all another are wrong.

Could you please provide guidance on how to maximize the performance of the Studio Displays in 5K resolution?

The default setting would be Retina "like 2560 x 1440" mode, in which

  • Applications size things "as if" the display had 2560 x 1440 pixels
  • The drawing canvas has (2 x 2560) x (2 x 1440) pixels, or 5120 x 2880 pixels
  • The Mac takes the contents of the drawing canvas and fits the contents 1:1 to the 5120 x 2880 pixel screen

Your Mac is using all of the resolution of the display – just for extra detail, rather than for more workspace.
