Logic Pro and RME Babyface Pro FS Distortion, Sample Rate Error, and MIDI Sync Issue
Hi everyone,
I’m experiencing a frustrating issue with my RME Babyface Pro FS when using it with Logic Pro. Below is a summary of my setup and the problem:
Setup:
- Audio Interface: RME Babyface Pro FS
- Working DAWs: GarageBand, Reaper (no issues with these)
- Problematic DAW: Logic Pro 11.1.2
- Operating System: macOS (latest version)
- Computer: MacBook Pro 15" (2.6 GHz Intel Core i7 6-core, 16 GB DDR4 2667 MHz RAM, Sequoia 15.2)
- Microphones: 2 cardioid CM4 microphones connected to inputs 1 and 2 with Phantom Power enabled
- RME drivers and firmware: Updated to the latest version via Fireface USB Settings
Issue:
- Input Signal: The input signal in Logic appears good and has correct levels during monitoring. However, once recorded, the signal is extremely low, distorted, and noisy.
- Errors: While recording, an error message appears related to sample rate and MIDI synchronization.
- Clock and Sample Rate: Everything seems properly configured at 44.1 kHz in both Logic and the Babyface settings.
- Other DAWs: The interface works perfectly with other DAWs like GarageBand and Reaper, with no distortion or low signal issues. It appears to be a problem specific to Logic Pro 11.1.2 and the Babyface.
- Reinstallation: I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled both Logic and the RME drivers, but the issue persists.
Additional Attempts:
- I’ve checked all audio settings in Logic, including buffer size and routing.
- I’ve adjusted the clock settings on the interface and verified the MIDI sync settings, but no improvement.
- Input levels and routing on TotalMix FX are perfect (peaking at -6 dB).
Question:
Has anyone experienced similar issues with Logic Pro 11.1.2 and the Babyface Pro FS? Are there any known solutions or specific configurations I should check to resolve this problem? I would like to use this RME with LOGIC and no with other DAW
Thank you very much for your help!
